
RASCO Past Conference
RASCO was launched in 2004 and is one of the largest Radiographer gatherings in Africa.
It is held with the aim to; promote research in radiography, ensure dissemination and sharing of medical knowledge and experiences in Radiological sciences, provide a forum for discussing topical issues, provide a forum for discussing policy issues that affect radiological services and healthcare delivery in the continent of Africa, act as a catalyst for participants to come up with prudent programmes and pragmatic policies in CPD, and to act as a meeting point for local and international Radiographers.
SORK develops different RASCO themes every two years.
Here is the chronology of the previous three RASCOs
- 6th RASCO 2014: Challenges and Opportunities in Radiography practice.
- Held in the Empirical Hotel in the Lake City of Kisumu.
- 7th RASCO 2016: Radiographer of the 21st Century and beyond: Repositioning of Radiography practice.
- Held in the Boma Inn Hotel in the City of Champions Eldoret.
- 8th RASCO 2018: Up-scaling Radiography & Imaging towards Universal Healthcare Coverage. Held in the Pride Inn Paradise Beach & Resort in the Coastal City of Mombasa.
- RASCO 2023 shall be held on 21st -23rd October 2023 at Pride inn Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa Shanzu Mombasa.
The theme for RASCO 2023 is “UNIVERSAL HEALTH: Radiography and Imaging in Covid 19 era’’.
Alternative accommodation remains Nightingale and sunset apartments in Shanzu.
The previous three RASCOs have consistently addressed need to bring Radiography practice at bar in order to increase accessibility.
This has been driven by the Bonn call for action for SDG that seeks to deliver health care that is accessible, affordable and sustainable. Kenyan Government in a view to reach this call, declared UHC in its vision 2030 to accelerate the attainment of the global agenda for Kenyans.
