Biography
Mr. Flavious Bobuin Nkubli has a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Radiography, a Postgraduate certificate in Computed Tomography and a M.Sc. Degree in Radiation, Environmental Protection and Dosimetry. He is a Lecturer I, Honorary Clinical Radiographer and Radiation Protection Specialist with the University of Maiduguri and the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Maiduguri, Borno State Nigeria. He also renders Radiation Safety Consultancy to Borno Medical Clinics, Maiduguri. Prior to his joining the Academia, he spent some years in fulltime clinical practice at the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital (UDUTH), Sokoto, Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa and Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, Nigeria.
He has held several positions at the Department of Medical Radiography, University of Maiduguri, Nigeria. He was the Pioneer Class Representative of the pioneer set for five years (2003-2008). Upon graduation, following his track record of excellence at the undergraduate level, he was retained by his Alma mata in the year 2011 after the mandatory one-year professional internship and National Youth Service Corps, scheme in 2009 and 2010 respectively. He has been the secretary, Departmental Academic Board of Examiners and the Departmental Board of Studies since 2012 to date. He is also a member of the Education Committee (EDUCOM) of the Association of Radiographers of Nigeria (ARN) and a corresponding editor of the popular international magazine Everything Radiography (ER).
In terms of his creative and research out puts, within his few years as a faculty, he has successfully supervised eighty-six (86) undergraduate radiography students research projects, published over fifty (50) journal articles and conference paper presentations as well as invited guest lectures on different aspects of radiography and radiation protection. He has been a recipient of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), Nigeria Travel Grants.
Clinical practice: He also holds an honorary radiographer position with the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital where he undertakes different aspects of general radiography practice, patient care and safety and training of students, intern radiographers and practicing radiographers.
His area of specialization is Radiation, Environmental Protection and Dosimetry with growing interest in paediatric radiation protection. He is currently a Ph.D student undertaking a research on Establishment of Diagnostic Reference Levels for paediatric plain chest radiography in some federal hospitals in northeastern Nigeria. He is open to multidisciplinary and collaborative research projects that will enhance the attainment of the Health-related Sustainable Development Goals in resource constraint settings.
He has various professional association and society membership both nationally and internationally such as; the Association of Radiographers of Nigeria (ARN), Nigerian Society of Radiography Lecturers (NSRL), Nigerian Society for Radiation Protection (NSRP), Nigerian Young Generation in Nuclear (NYGN), African Young Generation in Nuclear (AYGN), East African Association of Radiation Protection (EAARP) International Radiological Protection Association (IRPA), European Society for Radiology (ESR) and the European Federation of Radiographers Radiography Research Network (EFRS RRN).
